Project LIGHT is a collaborative effort between the Schools of Medicine and Law at the University of Leicester. Its purpose is to provide healthcare and legal support to homeless people in Leicester, through volunteering opportunities with the City Council and local charities such as The Bridge, Action Homeless and the Y Support Project.
Created in 2010, it was envisioned as an opportunity for medicine students to practice the skills gained from their studies in the community and give back to their local area. In 2013, it became a fully-fledged charity, and in September 2016 the Pro Bono Group were brought on-board so that law students could also take part in this amazing opportunity, to provide legal support to vulnerable individuals.
This year we hope to establish a greater presence at food kitchens, Health Promotion Sessions, Support Groups and Mentoring Schemes.
Criteria: Experience for at least 1 year on any Pro Bono Project and a passion for Pro Bono.
