Project Applications

Research the project(s) you wish to apply to by checking the Pro Bono website or speaking to the relevant director(s). There are different roles within each project, so please check which role(s) you are eligible to apply to. 
 

You can apply for up to 3 positions (successful applicants may only accept 1 position). 
 

Once you have completed the application form, please email the form to probonoleicester@gmail.com. Please name the form with your name and the project you are applying to.
 

We will be using a 'Blind Application process' so all names and personal information will be removed  before directors review the forms.
 

Led by the relevant director, you will be asked a series of questions. This may include your previous experiences, questions about the project and why you wish to join Pro Bono. These interviews will take place between Tuesday 19th January - Thursday 21st January 2021. Tip: Wear Formal Clothes (if you can).

Project LIGHT

Position: Resources Team Member

As a Resources Team Member you will provide legal support to vulnerable individuals and the homeless community in Leicester. The role will involve working to create physical resources such as pamphlets, handouts and leaflets with legal content that can be sent to local organisations to distribute to the homeless community. 

 

Due to the global pandemic, the Project is operating virtually but, in the future, we hope to offer opportunities for team members to attend local volunteering opportunities with their resources to provide help and legal knowledge. This role will allow you to make a direct impact in the local homeless population by aiding the Project to establish a presence in the community. 

Project LIGHT

Position: Social Media Team Member

As a Social Media Team Member you will provide legal support and helpful information to vulnerable individuals and the homeless community in Leicester. The role will involve creating educational and informative content for our social media platforms. The aim is to boost the online presence of the Project in the local community. 

 

Due to the global pandemic, the Project is operating virtually but, in the future, we hope to offer opportunities for team members to attend local volunteering opportunities to provide help and legal knowledge. This role will allow you to make a direct impact in the local homeless population by aiding the Project to establish a presence in the community.

Litigants in Person

Position: Community Legal Companion

This position will give students an opportunity to work within Leicester County court and aid individuals who do not have legal representation. A student volunteer will be able to accompany litigants in person into court proceedings with them to take notes for their personal records, and to aid the individual in understanding documents. 

A student member will also be able to assist a litigant in person to create legal bundles, fill out court forms, and explain court procedure and practice. This role provides the opportunity to provide real face-to-face guidance through the court process to those needing support.    

 

Please note: This position is only open to students studying Law.
