Why I Chose the Insight Project
I have been a part of the Insight Project since the start of my law degree in 2019. As I near the completion of my studies and think about the reason why I chose this project, several reasons come to mind but, one sticks out. All my life, I have been surrounded by educators as both my mother and grandmother were professors. Growing up in a household where education and giving back to children was considered of vital importance. Growing up in such a household, I gained a deeper understanding of the significance of education and how much of an impact it can make on an individual. Further, I had originally planned to go into university to obtain a degree in education but decided to pursue my interest in law instead. In all honesty, I didn’t know about this project until I attended the club fair and spoke to a few of the directors of the society at that time. After I told them my interests and my past experiences, I was directed to apply for this project but, I knew I would enjoy my time as it fits right in with my views and what I value. The Insight Project provided me with the opportunity to give back to students in underprivileged areas by teaching them about the law, but it also allowed me to discover other paths that I may want to take such as teaching higher education.
